Checklist — weekly check

Weekly check — checklist

Supplements the daily check. Interval and scope follow the manual for your crane and may be shorter under intensive use or in a coastal climate.

Structure

Bolted connections: witness marks aligned, no rust weeping or polished surfaces
No missing bolts, washers or split pins
Welds and nodes free of cracks
Paint damage that could hide a crack investigated
No deformed members or damaged ladder rungs

Rope and running gear

Full accessible rope length examined, not only the visible part
Terminations and anchorages checked
Drum: correct spooling, no damage in the grooving
Sheaves: free rotation, no wear grooves or damage in the groove
Rope guides and wearing parts in place

Machinery

Oil levels checked
No new leaks — hydraulic, gearbox, engine
Brake linings and brake function assessed
Unusual noise or heat recorded
Lubrication points done per the manual

Electrical and safety equipment

Cables undamaged, entries sealed
Trailing contacts and cable trolley sound
Limit switches tested
Overload device tested
Lights, warning lights and audible signal
Anemometer and anti-collision where fitted, tested

Documentation

Last week's findings closed out, or still open and known
Check entered in the crane's log
